What Should You Wear?

A Real Beginner’s Pilates Experience at Rejenerate Pilates

What Should You Wear?

If you’ve never tried Pilates before, and you’re curious about what it’s really like to step into your first class, you’re in the right place! As a total beginner myself, I’m sharing my honest experience and answering those little questions you might be wondering about.

So, what should you wear to class at Rejenerate Pilates?

Here’s what I wore to my very first Pilates class as someone who had never tried it before. Since I’m not really the type to wear tight-fitting clothes, I just showed up in a regular T-shirt and shorts—like what you’d normally think of as workout clothes. But honestly? My outfit was kind of a miss.

Now, it’s not like Pilates studios have a strict “dress code” or anything like that. But I quickly realized that wearing clothing that’s a little more form-fitting is actually much more helpful. The closer the clothes fit to your body, the easier it is for the instructor to see how your muscles are working and give you more accurate feedback.

On a personal note—I’ve been living in Canada for just over a year now as a newcomer from Korea. One thing I’ve noticed (and often experienced myself) is that many women in Korea don’t always feel comfortable showing their bodies, and tend to choose looser clothing to cover up. That’s me too—it still feels a bit awkward to wear leggings or tighter clothes. But in a Pilates studio, wearing fitted clothes is really just functional. It’s not about showing off, but about moving more freely and helping your instructor guide you better. So don’t let it stress you out—just think of it as part of the practice. (To my fellow Koreans especially—please remember this!)

One more tip: if you have long hair, make sure you tie it up so it’s out of the way. And don’t forget a pair of Pilates or yoga socks with grip to keep you from slipping.
But if you do happen to forget—no worries! At Rejenerate Pilates, you can easily pick up hair ties or grip socks right at the studio. So you’ll always be taken care of.

“Pilates is about connecting your body and mind. Just focus on your breathing and enjoy the movement.”
